Before the show began and during intermission, TNS fans lined up to tried out the newest in Nerf Rebelle and DohVinci products. My favourite? The new Nerf Rebelle Secret Shot. When not in use, it converts into a cute little purse!



Of course, we had to stop and take a photo of the future stars of The Next Step.

Once the show was over, that's when the trouble started.

Of course, little cans of Halloween Play-Doh are just as fun, too. Looking forward to getting crafty with the kids this weekend. Or maybe I'll just throw on the original Thor movie...

There's a new Hasbro toy in town. Yes, FurReal. It's the brand new FurReal Dizzy Dancers collection, to be exact. I know. My daughter could hardly contain her excitement either.

Ever since I was a kid, I had an unusual fondness of board games. More specifically, games that I was really good at playing. I kid you not when I say that I am too competitive for my own good. Yes, I played to win, baby! My favourite games included elements of skill, memory, speed, and strategy. Many of these classic games available from Hasbro have now been redesigned with modern themes and creative twists.

One such game includes the new Battleship Live, which comes with an hourglass-shaped Live tower that, using the voice of a naval commander, directs game play and keeps track of each move. I recall playing the older version of Battleship but the one game I remember most was Connect 4. Especially when my older cousins would stop by for a visit and I would show them who's boss. Whether or not they let me win was beside the point. It was just plain fun. This is why I was so excited to try the brand new Connect 4 Launchers. Instead of connecting four chips in a row on a vertical plane, the challenge in this new version is to connect four chips on a horizontal plane, times two. Check out this cool yet simple setup:

I have just returned from a recon mission, having narrowly avoided incoming missiles and air strikes. Today, I present my first report in the Toronto Teacher Mom 2011 Holiday Gift Guide: Battleship Live from Hasbro.

Just in time for Halloween, Hasbro has put together a goodie bag of bite-size Play-Doh. This is a great alternative to handing out sugary treats and will give kids a fun activity to occupy them long after Halloween has passed.

Each bag contains 20 mini one-ounce cans and they come in a variety of spooky colours. The pack I received for review had 4 black, 4 orange, 3 purple, 3 yellow, 3 green and 3 white.


My kids and I have been playing around with the Play-Doh this morning making all sorts of Halloween designs. Here is my Jack-O-Lantern.

Last month, I shared with you some of the super cool preschool items that Hasbro has in store for this holiday season. Today, I want to share a few of their toys geared towards girls. I'll start off with one of my favourites, the Easy-Bake Ultimate Oven. With this model, light bulbs are no longer needed. The oven comes with a baking pan, cupcake pan, pan pusher, chocolate chip cookie mix, red velvet cake mix, pink frosting mix, rainbow sugar crystals package, paper cupcake wraps and instructions/recipe booklet. I love the colour and the modern design.

For the younger crowd, there are a number of toys that will be sure to make it on Christmas lists. Take, for example, the line of Furreal Friends. My daughter fell in love with the Furreal Friends Gogo, My Walkin' Pup last year. She saw the cat in-store and begged me to get it for her. I told her to put it on her Christmas list since I wasn't prepared to spend that kind of money on a single toy. Luckily, Uncle Santa and his wife crossed it off for her. She loved it!

At the preview event, my daughter seemed to really like the My Little Pony Pinkie Pie Learns to Walk toy but at age six, I think it's more suitable from someone younger. Little girls can “teach” her how to “walk” at the press of a button. Simply straighten out her legs and hold the button on her hand and she will start “walking” alongside her “mommy.” She will even playfully kick her legs and say fun phrases to get her “mommy’s” attention.

In our loot bag, we found a Littlest Pet Shop Walkables Pet. My kids fought over who got to play with it. It's kind of like a wind-up toy only it's battery-powered and moves with the push of a button. I think they're cute but I would much rather have a wind-up version and not have to worry about batteries running out.

Finally, I wanted to share that the Spirograph brand is back! This colourful, classic toy will keep children mesmerized as they make endless geographic designs. I remember having so much fun getting creative with my Spirograph when I was a kid. The new Spirograph playset is magnetic which will help to keep your piece of paper in place. This is definitely something I would consider buying as Christmas gifts this year. And not just for girls but for boys, too!
