The Great Camp Adventure Walk - button

Next month, the kids and I will be in downtown Toronto for The Canaccord Genuity Great Camp Adventure Walk, a camp-themed walk to benefit The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). This means it's time to ramp up our fundraising efforts so that we can reach our goal before the big day. Knowing that funds raised from The Great Camp Adventure Walk support patient care, research discoveries, the hospital’s most urgent needs and more, I thought what better way to teach my kids the importance of giving back and helping those in need.

Have you thought about joining The Great Camp Adventure Walk but are worried about raising enough money? Fundraising doesn’t have to be difficult. From a late summer lemonade stand to walking the neighbour's dog, every dollar can help make a difference for the patients of SickKids. Plus, it is easier than you think and can be fun for the whole family.

The Great Camp Adventure Walk - Fundraising Update
Earlier this month, I shared on Facebook that the kids and I had signed up for The Great Camp Adventure Walk and within a matter of a single day, we had raised a third of our goal. And I'm lucky that way because I have amazing family and friends. I also downloaded the Twitter Tool Kit and found a great Twitter header image and ideas for sample tweets. But we still have to raise two-thirds of our goal and this is our first time participating in a fundraiser outside of school. How else can we raise funds? Luckily, The Great Camp Adventure Walk has posted a myriad of fundraising ideas and tools on their website. It was there that we found the idea of having a book sale, which is perfect since we have so many gently used books that we don't read anymore. We are also planning to ask our neighbours for support by the tried and true method of going door to door, just like when I was a kid.
Register for The Great Camp Adventure Walk

If you would like to participate, you can still register for The Great Camp Adventure Walk online. Registration fees vary from $35 to $65 per person based on age, and children under 5 can register for free. Tip: Register before September 15 and save as registration fees will increase. The fundraising goal minimum for adults age 18 and over is $400 and, for children between the ages of 5 and 17, the minimum is $100. Don't forget that participants will enjoy a day full of activities and can earn badges throughout the day. Meals and snacks will be provided, as well as an event t-shirt to remember this special day.

We hope you will join us at The Great Camp Adventure Walk on September 24 as we walk for those who can’t.

  5. Sick Kids does so much amazing work not only for Canadian children with health issues but ones around the world. It is definitely worthy of the support.
