'Twas the Night Before Halloween

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

'Twas the night before Halloween, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The decorations were hung with a malevolent sneer
In hopes that trick-or-treating soon would be here.

The children have tried on their masks and their threads,
While visions of candy danced in their heads.
And papa in pj's, and I in old sweats,
Had just settled our brains and cooled off our jets.

When all of a sudden I shuddered with fear.
Did I buy any chocolates or candy? Oh, dear!
Away to the kitchen I flew like the wind,
Tore open the cupboards and happily grinned.

On the day before many will dress up as Marvel characters, I am relieved at the sight of my very own hero. He's small and orange but packs quite the punch. He goes by the name Finn and has been seen in different vigilante disguises of various colours. In the perfectly sized 14 g bags, Goldfish crackers will be my go to Halloween treat this year. I'll be serving them up in my Hocus Pocus treat box I got from Hallmark last fall.

The treat box is sitting right next to my Hokey Pokey glow-in-the-dark skeleton and this year's Ghostly Singing Duo. I brought the Door Decor Witch's Hat to school where I put it on display on my bulletin board.

And while I'm waiting for trick-or-treaters, I will have some ooey gooey Rice Krispies treats to keep me fueled for the night.

I guess I'll share some with the kids, too. I made some letters using alphabet cookie cutters which will help me overlook the bagful of marshmallows I used to make them. Anything that lends itself to promoting literacy is a friend of mine!

Before I let you go, I wanted to remind you that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle giveaway is ending tomorrow so be sure to get those entries in. Ghould luck!
