The New Schick Hydro Silk Women's Razor #HydroSilkCanada

Monday, February 13, 2012

On the eve of Valentine's Day, I usually make it a part of my bedtime routine to include a nice long bath and a good leg shaving. It's a time to come out of hibernation and face the reality that I can't go on looking like a hairy Yogi Bear for much longer. This year, I will be using a new razor that hydrates the skin and reduces irritation - the new Schick Hydro Silk women's razor.

Ever since I started shaving, I would often use a men's razor to tackle my dark, stubborn hairs and get that really close shave. On a few occasions, that shave would be a little too close for comfort. Many years and bandages later, I realize that there may be a need for a razor designed for women after all. But what could possibly give me the same close shave as a men's razor while also protecting and caring for my skin?

With the new Hydro Silk razor, I actually look forward to shaving my legs, a task that often remains overlooked. I read up on the FAQ and learned that you still need to use a shaving cream since it's still a traditional razor. But I have always relied on soap lather (insert gasp here) while shaving. As an experiment, I tested out my current women's razor along with the Hydro Silk, one on each leg and without using any lather at all. I simply took a shower and near the end, I shaved my legs. The Hydro Silk has a Water-Activated Moisturizing Serum that hydrates the skin. This was evident as I could shave one length of my leg without having to lift the razor and retracing the area that had been shaved, unlike my current razor. The Hydro Silk glided so nicely that I didn't hesitate around the curves of my knee. In the end, my new razor involved less work and made what used to seem like a chore more of a delight. And by the way, I also found a suction-cup shower hanger in the box which makes it rather convenient for storing in the shower.

This Valentine's Day, I'm showing my legs some much needed love. You can show your legs some love this week, too, by joining @Listen2Lena, @MyChaos, @SassyModernMom and myself @TeacherMomofTwo for the #HydroSilkCanada  Twitter Party. There will be plenty of girl chat and prizes to enjoy and it all takes place this Wednesday, February 15 at 8:30 ET. Be sure to RSVP with your Twitter handle today!
