Organic Produce Delivered to Your Home

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Yesterday, someone knocked on our door and handed us a flyer with information on a delivery service new to our area. It sounds very appealing and I want to know what my readers think about it. By paying $48 for a regular box, you can opt to have fresh local organic produce delivered right to your door every week or every other week. It averages about 10 types of vegetables and 5 kinds of fruits which total about 1 bushel. It's enough for about 2-3 people a week and varies according to the season. What I really like is that they customize your order according to your preferences based on "no thanks," allergies or things your kids don't like at all. So my question is, have you ever tried a local delivery service that picks out fresh vegetables and fruits for you? And do they offer organic produce? Or do you prefer to shop for your own produce yourself?

  2. I know there's a grocery store that offers a similar service and also carries organic produce. This other service is strictly organic produce but it doesn't mention where they get it from. It just states "Local over Import."

  3. A few of my cousins participate in "CSA's" and they post photos of what they get. My 2 cents - go for it!! You should see the fresh, beautiful fruits and veggies in those bushels. If I had one close to me I would be all over it. The variety and quality are really quite impressive. Let's us know if you try it out :)

  4. Thanks for sharing, Amber. I am leaning towards trying it out for one week. They offer delivery between 3-9pm so it could definitely work. I will let you know how it goes if we try it out.

  5. Here is my cousin Anna's facebook update today (yes she is very into her veggies, lol) She has other people on her friend list who get it also and they compare notes and recipes, etc...

"Anna is excited for broccoli and corn in this week's veggie boxes along with radishes, lettuce, snow peas, green & yellow beans, and eggs. This is going to be a good week!"

I thought you might like to see what's in an average box :)
