WE Day Family 2016 - Craig Kielburger and Commander Chris Hadfield

The WE Day Family event at the ACC Centre on October 19, 2016 was very inspiring. All of the performances and speakers encouraged me to volunteer and help out even more than I have over these past four years. The speakers and stories I heard were extremely emotional. Everyone had a story to share with us about what they have done to help out.  It inspired me to create a WE day program in our school with my fellow classmates who attended WE Day.

The most heartwarming story for me was about the crazy fire in Alberta. Everyone worked together to help those who were caught in the radius of the fire. When you help out others you achieve success in other ways. It makes you a better person. The firefighter, Chief Darby Allen, was brought to tears when kids from Fort McMurray came on to the stage to honour him with a trip thanks to West Jet.

I encourage and challenge everyone to find time, make time to give back.  I challenge everyone to BE KIND!

WE Day was amazing and life changing!

BE THE CHANGE!

I AM WE!

  3. Sound like a great day but the fire was not close to Calgary it's Edmonton who housed most of the families and made lists to find pets and get supplies, it's way closer to Ft Mac and most of the workers live in Edmonton on time off! Calgary is another 3 hours south of Edmonton and 8 hours south of Calgary is Ft Mac.
