Summer, How Do I Love Thee?

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Forgive me, Blogger, for I have sinned. It has been eight days since my last blog post.

In all honesty, I feel no guilt for not having written anything over the past week. In fact, I am revelling in the freedom of being deadline-free and soaking up the beautiful weather while hanging out with the kidlets. I know you missed me so I came up with some mind-blowing trivia for you.

This past weekend, I:
  1. conquered all ten obstacles in the Warrior Dash mud run while in the middle of a heat wave
  2. returned home to spend three hours finishing off my garden
  3. prepped for my daughter's 10th birthday party
  4. all of the above
The obvious answer is D, which is kind of à propos given the fact that I could have DIED on more than one occasion. Seriously, I thought hosting 16 kids would be the death of me but PaintSpace Art Lounge kept them so focused on their pièces de résistance, you could hear a pin drop. Three cheers for painting parties!

Furthermore, I make no apologies for taking three days to clean up the post-party mess, including the specks of paint on the main floor and polishing off the remaining birthday cake. Parenthood is all about making sacrifices, am I right?

In the slight chance you don't hear from me soon, fear not. I haven't succumbed to heat exhaustion despite my AC breaking down for the umpteenth time. I am most likely sitting here catching up on the latest episode of Suits:

  5. I don't blame you for taking some time - summer is too short so we do have to enjoy it! Mind you it sounds like you have been very busy - maybe a few more days off to just relax? (Judy Cowan)
