His & Hers Beauty and Grooming Essentials
Saturday, January 17, 2015
The holidays have come and gone, along with them my two weeks vacation. As much as I thoroughly enjoyed our last-minute family getaway at a beautiful bed and breakfast, I am still feeling haggard. I blame the polar vortex and the stresses of work life and motherhood and the effects of aging and blah, blah, blah. (Do I complain too much?) During these cold winter months, the last thing I want to worry about is spending hours on hair and makeup. This is why I am grateful to have a repertoire of essential products that are quick and easy to use, thanks to P&G. Here are some tips and beauty must-haves including some new Old Spice products for men.
For Men
The new Old Spice Swagger line features products to keep your man smelling irresistible: Old Spice Swagger Body Wash, Old Spice Antiperspirant and Old Spice Re-fresh Body Spray, in the event that a touch up is needed. For an added boost of Thorlicious locks, Head & Shoulders Advanced Thickening Tonic will help achieve a thick and full haired effect, while Old Spice Spiffy Wax will make sure that perfectly styled Ryan Gosling look remains in place. For those who enjoy the clean shaven Jude Law look, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide with FlexBall Technology Power is just what you need.
For Women
The Herbal Essences The Sleeker the Butter line was designed to help you maintain a smooth and collected appearance. The serum-infused shampoo will work to smooth the hair and control frizz, while the conditioner coats hair strands. Use Herbal Essences The Sleeker the Butter Smooth & Creamy Hair Milk in your hair to ensure a longer lasting smooth look. This particular line works well but I'm not a big fan of the scent. My favourite Herbal Essences is still their None of Your Frizzness line.
If you use a flat or curling iron in your hair, I recommend using a heat shield such as the Pantene Pro-V Heat Potion Serum. I always apply a serum before straightening my hair since it adds a protective layer and reduces the potential for heat damage. And for those who want to reduce the appearance of dark circles, try Olay Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting Hydraswirl.
One final tip you may have heard before: Don't take really hot showers. The heat can actually leave your skin and hair feeling dry. Instead, try a cool shower or, if you prefer a warm shower like me, rinse using cold water at the very end. This happens to be my winter ritual!

ReplyDeleteMy grooming tip would be to not brush your hair when it's wet because hair generally seems to be more prone to breakage right out of the shower. If your'e going to blow dry your hair, use your fingers to gently "comb" your hair, then maybe a detange comb. And then when your hair is dryer, another comb or brush.
