Back to School with The Children's Place
Wednesday, August 31, 2011A couple of weeks ago, I was treated to a fun little shopping spree courtesy of The Children's Place as part of their Media Day. My daughter was off at day camp so my son and I headed to the Eaton Centre location in downtown Toronto for some Back to School shopping.

I had never shopped at that location before and was surprised to see such a massive amount of clothes and accessories all in one place. It was almost a little overwhelming but I knew right away I wouldn't be able to resist going a little over budget. It's a good thing I had my trusty sidekick Mr. Plastic on hand. Plus, they had some good sales going on, too. (The prices listed are what I paid at the time of purchase.)
The first thing I needed to buy for Back to School was a new backpack for my daughter. I spotted this really cute owl-themed school bag that was on sale and picked up a really cute critter hat that will match her winter coat quite nicely. Unfortunately, the backpack was a little too big for my 6-year-old so I ended up returning it.
I also saw this super cute Tutu Tomboy outfit that I just couldn't pass up. I wasn't sure my daughter would like the tutu so I went with a utility skirt in a nutty colour. My daughter loved the tee! The ruched sleeves added a sweet girly touch.
This September, our school board will implement a uniform policy that requires children to wear the standard navy and white colours. I had ordered some pieces online for my daughter but was relieved to see The Children's Place still had such a huge selection with plenty of sizes left. Just check out this adorable uniform jumper.
When it came to buying something for my son, I wasn't quite sure what to get. They had so many graphic tees to choose from, I would have been happy with one of each. My son made it easy to narrow down our selection. He even picked out a fleece top, graphic thermal and a pair of fleece pants. In bright red. Not my first choice but he's aloud to express his taste, right? What can I say? The kid loves the colour red.
And then I saw a Cool Trooper outfit that I really liked.
And ended up with these three pieces:
I could have picked up matching footwear because they had some nice shoes but I often hesitate. Don't ask me why. I guess I just prefer to have my kids' shoes fitted properly to provide the best support for their growing feet. (I used to work in a kids' shoe store back in university!) And look, they already have Halloween costumes!
Also, just wanted to share that they currently have a Labor Day sale that will save you an additional 15% off everything. You can use the code 2W9D2011 or visit thechildrensplace.ca to print a coupon valid in-store. In the meantime, why not stay a while longer and enter to win a $25 gift card courtesy of The Children's Place?
This contest is now closed. The winner has been announced below.
