The Turbie Twist - A Wonderfully Innovative Hair Towel

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

A number of years ago, while visiting my in-laws, I noticed my sister-in-law walking around the house with a special towel wrapped around her hair. It looked like such a handy item to have but I never really found it readily available or came across anything like it during my regular shopping trips. Then, just the other day,  I read about the Original Turbie Twist, an innovative hair towel that is perfect for anyone with long hair. I just knew I had to try it!

The Turbie Twist was designed by a sister duo, who consequently both sport long hair. Their creative design offers an affordable and convenient alternative to regular bath towels that can end up being too big, too small or just too plain heavy. In 2006, they revolutionized the Turbie Twist and made it to the INC 500/5000 list of the fastest growing companies in America. And if you've tried the Turbie Twist yourself, you understand why.

Turbie Twist

The Original Turbie Twist that I tried for this review came in bright pink and is made of an ultra soft 100% cotton velour. It's so easy to use and fits both me and my 5-year-old daughter perfectly (just not at the same time). I also love that it is lightweight and machine washable. But most of all, it makes my life all that much easier knowing that I can take a shower, wrap my hair and then do my makeup or get dressed while my hair is drying in a super-absorbent towel. It is 10 times better than using a bath towel, that's for sure! Especially since it helps to cut down the amount of time and energy wasted on using a blow dryer.

I think the Turbie Twist would make for a fabulous gift idea that is both fun and functional. It comes in a variety of prints and colours, as well as a microfiber fabric, to suit individual preferences. You can view a list of retailers on TurbieTwist.com as well as order online for as little as $5.64 CAD, not including shipping (which is a bit steep when ordering from drugstore.com and shipping to Canada).

I have included a little how-to video demonstrating how easy it is to use the Turbie Twist. I edited it in iMovie and am so happy with how it turned out. It took only two takes and aside from the annoying sound of me trying to clear the frog in my throat, I like the final product. Check it out!
