Family Film Fest and Other Netflix News

Monday, March 17, 2014

Earlier this month, I joined a number of fellow bloggers at the stunning Ritz Carlton hotel as we kicked off the Stream Team blogger program with a lavish Oscar viewing party. Dressed up in evening wear, we enjoyed fabulous food and complimentary hair and makeup touch-ups by celebrity stylists. The event was hosted by Jenny McCabe, Director of Global Media Relations at Netflix, who shared the inside scoop at Netflix and answered questions.

Following her presentation, we gathered around the big screen to watch the Oscars and shared our picks for this year's nominees. Included among the Oscar nominations was the Netflix original The Square, nominated for Best Documentary.

Having been a Netflix subscriber for several years, I was more than delighted to join the Netflix Canada Stream Team. A few months ago, we cancelled our cable service in our home since Netflix offers an expansive array of movies, documentaries and TV shows which we can enjoy at home or while traveling. We access Netflix on our iPhones, iPad, laptop and desktop computers as well as on our TV via Nintendo Wii and now Roku. And yes, I'm guilty of binge watching! In fact, it was thanks to Netflix that I decided to watch The Vampire Diaries by catching up on the earlier seasons and now I'm hooked. Over the holidays, I watched the entire Rocky collection and in February, I watched the first two seasons of House of Cards. My latest obsession? Breaking Bad. Such a bad habit to break!

Over the next year, I will be sharing with you the latest Netflix news and exciting announcements such as the addition of King Julien in his very own show and Puss in Boots. Veggie Tales in the House and Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team will be returning to Netflix, too! All new episodes from the first season of Turbo FAST will be available for streaming on April 4. Also, check out these suggestions for a Family Film Fest, Netflix-style:

  1. Turbo (New!)
  2. Princess Lillifee and the Little Unicorn
  3. My Friend Bernard
  4. Moonbeam Bear and His Friends
  5. Happy Feet Two
  6. The Voyages of Young Dr. Doolittle
  7. Thomas & Friends: Creaky Cranky

Are you a Netflix junkie like me? Fess up. What are you addicted to?

    1. I agree. I am hoping that they will be able to include a listing of shows and movies that will soon expire. Wouldn't that be handy?
