Green Your Routine with Seventh Generation

Monday, August 27, 2012

For several years, I have always been on the lookout for cleaning products that were non-toxic and did not smell of harsh chemicals. It became much more important once I became a mother and began to worry about the dangers of allowing my children to come into contact with potentially harmful cleaning products. One of the first brands I had ever tried was Seventh Generation. Since many of their products cost more than conventional products, I would often restrict their use to washing baby bottles, dishes, baby clothes and the like. Over the last year or so, I have not been nearly so diligent, even though it's always been in the back of my mind that I should work more towards living like the Lorax and being greener. This is why I agreed to work with Seventh Generation and participate in their Green Your Routine challenge.

Seventh Generation Green Your RoutineOver the next few weeks, I will be making a more conscientious effort to live a healthier and more environmentally-friendly lifestyle. Seventh Generation has sent over a kit of cleaning products to help me green my routine along with the following four recommendations:

  • Tip #1 - Pack a Litterless Lunch
  • Tip #2 - Watch How You Wash
  • Tip #3 - Choose a Sustainable Route to School
  • Tip #4 - Teach Environmental Stewardship

Seventh Generation hasn't forgot about my readers. They have offered up a chance to win your own Seventh Generation Starter Kit composed of coupons for a complimentary package of Seventh Generation Free & Clear Dish Soap, Free & Clear Kitchen Spray and 4X Laundry Detergent so you can try these products, too. Canadian residents can enter to win by filling out the Rafflecopter form below.

I routinely buy 'green' cleaning products & have purchased fabric grocery/produce/ziploc type bags to avoid the disposible ones!

  4. We are avid recyclers and re-users (when possible). We use only cloth grocery bags and produce bags. We are great at turning lights off when not in use, we use only cold water to wash clothes in. We do all we can do really.
