CBC MarketPlace News Investigates Green Works‏

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Back in April, I shared a post that talked about how a number of Green Works products have earned the Natural Products Association certification. This means that at least 95% of the ingredients are natural and that the product is safe, responsible and sustainable. More recently, CBC Marketplace News conducted an independent investigation of three popular natural laundry detergent brands. The results showed that Clorox Green Works® was the only product proven to be free of petrochemicals. The study also showed that 98 percent of Green Works ingredients are indeed plant-based.

“Consumers are smart to scrutinize companies claiming to be natural. We at Clorox stand behind Green Works because we know what has gone into ensuring we are producing a quality naturally-derived product – and this independent study can help ease consumers concerns that they are purchasing a truly natural product they can feel good about,” says Mark Malo, General Manager, Clorox Canada.

Personally, I find this reassuring because I know there are several products that make certain claims or are marketed in such a way that consumers may be lead to believe they are 'greener' than they actually are. You can find the news article which includes a short video clip on CBC.ca - "Some 'green' detergents contain petrochemicals"

  2. I totally agree, Dee. The market has definitely become inundated with products that are trying to jump on the 'green' bandwagon just to compete.

  3. Thanks for sharing this article, I had been wondering if this brand was really what it claimed to be, I know what brand of natural cleaners I will be buying from now on.

  4. I think it's important that consumers can trust companies and the labels they use but it's hard to do that sometimes. This article was a nice eye-opener.
