Martha Stewart Exclusive on Canada AM

Monday, June 06, 2011

Early Monday morning, Canada AM aired a Canadian television exclusive with the one and only Martha Stewart. And guess who had a chance to watch as part of the live studio audience? You betcha. I did! What was that? You missed it? Don't worry because I've got you covered. You can view the whole thing over at CTV.ca.

During the segment, co-hosts Beverly Thomson and Seamus O’Regan had the opportunity to discuss Martha's busy schedule and the fact that she now has a granddaughter. After a commercial break, Martha, donned in a Home Depot apron, demonstrated how easy it is to paint using one of a myriad of coloured paints from her line. The colours coordinate with other Martha Stewart Living products such as drapes or rugs, which makes it a no-brainer for clueless people like myself. And while I was happy to hear that her brand of paint is low VOC, I couldn't help but marvel more at how much better she wears an orange apron than when I used to wear one. Yes, I worked at Home Depot when I was younger and was never fond of the colour orange. But Martha sure knows how to work it.

Here are some painting tips from Martha Stewart:

  • Don't forget to edge out along mouldings and window frames first.
  • Tape off what you don't want to get paint on. Which leads to the next point.
  • Lay down a drop cloth and remove any rugs.
  • Don't rush it. You don't want any snot nose drips. Yes. You read that correctly.

We had a pretty good view, wouldn't you say?

She later provided some tips on creating an herb garden using her line of verified organic (yay!) seeds. As always, she makes it look so simple. And the planters she used looked like they were made of concrete but they were fairly lightweight and yet durable. I am pretty excited to plant my own herb garden since each of us in the audience received a gift bag with some organic seeds along with a hand pruner and a fabric drawer. I told my husband to keep his hands off my new pruner. I might actually do some gardening. Don't laugh. ;)
