A little over a week ago, I received a neat little gadget that is perfect for digital camera owners like myself who never seem to get a chance to develop their photos. It's a Digital Photo Keychain and it's awesome!

The simple design gives it a clean look and I like that the buttons are located on the back. Even though the manual had very small font and wasn't very easily understood, I did play around with the menu button and managed to figure out all of the functions with ease. With that being said, I have always been quick to figure out most things digital so it might take a digi-newbie a little more time.

The digital photo keychain comes with a built-in 3.7V rechargeable battery (yay!) along with a USB cable that hooks up to your computer. That means you can recharge the battery through your computer. No battery charger required! Once connected to the computer using the USB cable, click on the Menu button and use the arrow buttons to navigate the list. Once "USB Connect" is highlighted, click on the menu button again to initialize connection. A pop-up window appears prompting you to open a DPF executable file. Click on that file and a new window opens which lists all the locations on your computer in the top left pane. Find the location of your pictures, click on a picture file and crop the picture in the preview pane, rotating or zooming in as you see fit. Seeing as the digital photo keychain has a 128 by 128 display, I suggest zooming in on the main focus of the picture for best viewing. Click on "Add" for each picture you would like and then click on "Download" to synchronize it with the digital photo keychain.

Although the photo looks monochrome, it does display in colour	.

I decided to use pictures from my recent trip to the Toronto Zoo and the set of 35 pictures downloaded to the keychain within nanoseconds. The count was at 35 out of a possible 140 which surprised me because the description on the website states it can hold about 72. So I went back and added more, and indeed it does hold 140 pictures! This is great because I have way too so many digital pictures of my kids and not enough places to display them. Now I can show them off wherever I go.


One other feature that has come in handy is the clock feature. As a traveling French teacher, I'm always rushing from room to room. I don't wear a watch so I'm always worried that I am going to be late for class. Being able to refer to the clock on the keychain has been really convenient. It also comes with a calendar feature and I really like that the date and time was already set up for me so I didn't have to adjust it myself.

Mac users, please beware. I tried to connect via USB on my MacBook and I kept getting a message stating that the USB "can't draw enough power to operate properly." So, sadly, I couldn't download pictures directly from my MacBook which is where I store the majority of my photos. Luckily, I have a PC laptop and it worked just fine from there. In the end, I think the digital photo keychain is well-priced and functional. I will definitely be making good use of it.
